This 3-day course has dual objectives. first to explore how psychological factors influence financial decision-making and examine methods for analyzing and predicting market trends. This course will bridge traditional financial theories with insights into human behavior, equipping you with skills to understand and manage biases, interpret financial data, and apply technical analysis tools for better investment strategies. Through case studies, practical applications, and hands-on sessions, you’ll gain a comprehensive view of market dynamics and investor behavior.


This course builds on the concepts presented in the introductory Derivatives training, introducing essential aspects of Technical Analysis, including key patterns and trading strategies.



Workshop Content

Day 1 – Trading Psychology and Cognitive Biases

I. Common Trading Fallacies: discuss how cognitive biases and fallacies can impact trading decisions, using relatable examples to enhance understanding. For each fallacy:

Gambler’s Fallacy – Teleological Fallacy – Ludic Fallacy – Narrative Fallacy – Hindsight Bias – Outcome Bias – Confirmation Bias – Halo Effect – Herd Behavior – Overconfidence


II. Fooled by Probabilities
Provide practical examples to demonstrate the limitations and misinterpretations of probabilities in trading, such as randomness, sample sizes, and variance and how they can impact trading assumptions.


Day 2 – Technical Analysis I

I. Introduction to Charts; discuss how charts represent price action and introduce key elements.

  1. Trends & Trendlines – Explain trend analysis, including identifying uptrends, downtrends, and consolidation.
  2. Moving Averages – Describe moving averages as indicators of market direction and volatility, introducing simple and exponential moving averages.
  3. Support & Resistance Levels – Define these levels as critical markers in trading and show how they can influence price movement.

I. Patterns; introduce chart patterns as indicators of market psychology and potential reversals or continuations.

    Moderator

    Antonis is a finance professional specializing in structuring and pricing complex investment products. Currently, he is the Deputy Director of Treasury & Capital Markets at Attica Bank, Athens. Previously, he worked as an Investment Products Trader at Piraeus Bank included designing, pricing and hedging structured products, such as Capital Guaranteed Deposits and Notes, Convertibles and Exotics. He also held positions  in the Capital Markets industry of major domestic financial institutions, such as MARFIN Bank, demonstrating outstanding integrity and achievements.
